The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has announced it has signed a three-year global partnership agreement with Belgium-based chemicals manufacturer Solvay.

It is the foundation’s first such agreement with a company from the chemicals sector. The partnership “will significantly enhance Solvay's opportunity and contribution towards accelerating the transition towards a circular economy within the chemicals sector.”

Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, Solvay CEO, added: “The circular economy is increasingly important for our businesses and our customers who are asking us to bring solutions to the table that meet their sustainability needs. Joining the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and partnering with renowned global players will make the difference in enhancing the quality of our knowledge and research to faster move towards circularity.”

Solvay joins the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s eight existing global partners, Danone, Google, H&M, Intesa Sanpaolo, Nike, Philips, Renault and Unilever.
