WL to launch cross-country ski apparel collection

WL Gore has launched a new brand for the finished products it brings to market for sports such as cycling and running. From 2018, these collections will come under the new umbrella brand name Gore Wear. Functional underwear, socks and gloves are also part of the Gore Wear offering.

Expanding Gore Wear further, the company has said it will expand Gore Wear beyond running and cycling for the first time as part of its autumn-winter 2018-2019 launches with the introduction of new collections for hiking and cross-country skiing.

Details have already emerged of the cross-country skiing offering. It will comprise eight products, four for women and four for men, with the fabrics engineered using Gore Windstopper technologies. In combination with stretch materials and an aerodynamic design, they offer cross-country skiers complete comfort and protection, the company said.

Products include the X7 Partial jacket and trousers, which have breathable fabrics to prevent sweat accumulation and overheating during workouts and races, WL Gore said. In addition, the jacket has a soft inner collar for extra warmth, a full-length front zipper, a drawstring at the waist for better heat retention and stretch panels in the cuff area, while the trousers feature pre-shaped knees and stretch panels to give freedom of movement and comfort. A high-waisted cut at the back is another feature that helps prevents heat from being drawn away from the body.

Other products in the collection are long-sleeved shirts and tights for women and men, which offer what WL Gore has called “a highly formfitting cut and light insulation for optimum moisture management”.

The shirts have a fleece-lined collar for next to skin comfort, a seamless hip and shoulder construction so that bottle belts and backpacks sit comfortably, a zip port at the chin for extra comfort and elasticated cuffs. The tights feature a discreet zip pocket on the right thigh, come with an integrated drawstring for minor adjustments to the waist and are wide at the bottom of the legs for maximum comfort in ski boots.
