The new 11,000-square-foot facility will offer start-ups the chance to collaborate with Gore scientists on a range of advanced materials science challenges.
It aims to help these start-ups to achieve and scale scientific breakthroughs, supported by Gore’s material science expertise. These will be in a variety of areas, including fabrics, aerospace, automotive, digital health and medical technologies.
"The Gore Innovation Centre is a place for experimenting with new ideas, pushing boundaries and bringing together diverse talents to deliver transformative solutions that improve lives," explained Linda Elkins, co-leader of the Gore Innovation Centre.
The centre has already signed its first important joint development agreement, with digital health start-up Kenzen. Gore engineers and scientist are working closely with Kenzen to develop a comprehensive wearable monitoring system that employs biosensor data and predictive modelling to anticipate avoidable injuries. Kenzen will incorporate advanced materials from Gore to enhance the comfort, reliability and durability of this system.
