Clariant chairman praises workforce for strong 2017 result, despite distractions

The group achieved revenues of almost 6.4 billion Swiss francs, an increase of 9% year on year. Its earnings on this revenue reached 974 million Swiss francs, an increase of 10% compared to the figure for 2016.
At the meeting, chairman, Rudolf Wehrli, praised Clariant’s workforce of more than 18,000 people for achieving strong results in spite of “the events surrounding the planned merger” between Clariant and Huntsman, announced in May 2017 but called off in October. Employees did not allow themselves to be “distracted” by what was going on, Mr Wehrli said.
