Teflon EcoElite wins bio-based products award

Chemours picked up a prize at the 2018 Bio-Based Product of the Year awards for Teflon EcoElite, which it has described as the world’s first renewably sourced, plant-based, non-fluorinated fabric treatment.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the discovery of fluoropolymers (PTFE), which led to the development of the Teflon brand. But as times change and there is demand for more sustainable solutions, Chemours has said that Teflon has now been “re-imagined”.

Teflon EcoElite is up to three times more durable than existing non-fluorinated water-repellent finishes, the company has said.
