Fashion Revolution founder says push for transparency must go on
13/04/2018
Designer and campaigner Carry Somers launched Fashion Revolution in 2013 in the wake of the disaster at Rana Plaza. This year’s event marks the fifth anniversary of the disaster, which claimed the lives of 1,138 people, mostly workers in the Bangladeshi garment industry.
Ms Somers is expected to say at the event that the focus on transparency in the apparel supply chain needs to continue because transparency will help companies keep track of any unauthorised suppliers, drive better outcomes for workers and makes it easier for consumers to know more about the products they buy.
The Fashion Transparency Index ranks 150 of the biggest global fashion and apparel brands and retailers according to their level of supply chain transparency. Companies listed include sportswear, and footwear brands from Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
