Garment sector in Vietnam on track for export revenue rise

Vietnam’s garment exports could reach $34 billion in value this year, according to textile industry body Vitas. The organisation’s vice-president, Truong Van Cam, made the prediction in recent comments to local media.

Mr Truong made the prediction on releasing the export results of the garment sector for the first quarter of 2018. Export revenues reached $7.6 billion, an increase compared to the same quarter of 2017 of more than 13%.

He said apparel manufacturers in Vietnam have busy order-books for the rest of the year, making him confident that it can surpass last year’s total, $31billion.
