Belgium-based advanced materials company Solvay has developed three new polymer filaments that it is aiming specifically at 3D-printers and additive manufacturing.

Two of the three are based on Solvay’s KetaSpire polyetheretherketone, designed to facilitate the fusion of printed layers and enable high part density and strength. The third new filament is based on the company’s Radel polyphenylsulfone.

Business manager for additive manufacturing, Christoph Schramm said on announcing the development that Solvay has set itself the target of becoming “the leading global supplier of advanced, additive manufacturing-ready polymer solutions for 3D printing”.
