Patagonia shows interest in innovative materials developer

The strategic investment arm of Patagonia, Tin Shed Ventures, is among the companies to have backed a round of funding by advanced technology company NuMat Technologies.

The company specialises in the field of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), a new form of nonporous materials which can be programmed to interact with target molecules at an atomic level. They have potential applications in the semiconductor, life-sciences and energy sectors. 

NuMat’s recent funding round raised $12.4 million. Tin Shed Ventures was one of a number of contributors. The investment will allow NuMat to expand the reach of its molecularly-engineered products platform to Europe and East Asia.
