Why seamless only seems easy

Speaking to sportstextiles at the start of May, Mr Citterio said an exclusive, patented system Cifra has developed, calling it Warp Knit Seamless (WKS) lends itself well to athleisure garments because it makes the process of producing seamless garments easier.
At its factory near Milan, Cifra currently has 28 automated warp knit machines, which it uses to weave its fabrics. Mr Citterio said that the company also has the know-how required to customise its production to suit the needs of the brands it serves. “It’s probably the most difficult knitting technology there is,” he said, “but we have the know-how to use it to offer tailor-made mass production.”
Demand for the fabrics the company can produce with WKS is strong and, on the back of this, Cifra grew its business by 70% in 2017 and believes it can grow it by a further 20% in 2018. Athleisure is an important element of this growth. Cesare Citterio said: “Athleisure will go on for many years, especially with leggings. Our ability to offer real seamless fabrics for these garments is a plus for us. The fabrics are ladder-proof because they are warp-knit and the user can easily cut the length of the legs to suit. This is not about fashion, it’s about technology. Seamless may seem easy, but it isn’t.”
