Bolger & O’Hearn says new DWR treatment is “stormproof”

The finishing treatment is applied to fabrics at the textile mill. The company has said it “provides laminate-like resistance to the harshest storms without inhibiting comfort or breathability.”
Bolger & O’Hearn has revealed OmniBloq is designed to offer better performance than traditional DWRs using only one layer. It compares this to some DWR solutions, which it says can have six or more layers, including fabrics, films, glues and tapes.
According to the company, fabrics treated with OmniBloq meet or surpass AATCC Rain test 35-2013. It is suitable for application to performance fabrics for use in sportswear, athleisure clothing and outerwear, as well as in tents, backpacks and other outdoor products.
“OmniBloq is a real breakthrough in the stormproof/breathable fabric category,” said Shaun O’Hearn, president of Bolger & O’Hearn. “Raising performance standards and reducing your environmental impact does not usually go hand-in-hand but OmniBloq delivers on both fronts. With OmniBloq, you get stormproof/breathable performance without all of the resources associated with laminated fabrics.”
Bolger & O’Hearn has said major US brands have already adopted OmniBloq for their next generation product launches.
