Quiksilver proud to reach Repreve milestone

Surfwear brand Quiksilver has calculated that its partnership with Unifi to use Repreve fibre in its products has now given a second use to the plastic in 100 million recycled bottles.

Quiksilver started using Repreve in 2012 and, since then, has put 3,500 tonnes of fibres from recycled bottles into boardshorts, jackets and other products.

On announcing the milestone, Quiksilver said it was proud to have used as much Repreve. It said using recycled polyester fibres means consuming 45% less energy and 20% less water than using virgin polyester.
