SIA plans inaugural trade mission to China

Snowsports Industries America (SIA) has announced it will carry out its first trade mission to China in September. It cited “immense business opportunities” as the reason for the trip. 

The educational visit, which will take place from September 16-19, will give US snow sports business the opportunity to gain important insights and contact in China. 

During the trip, the group will hear from US officials about developments in the Chinese winter market, will meet Chinese resort owners and retailers, will attend the World Winter Sport Expo, and will meet with the Beijing organising committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. 

SIA said it is estimated that the winter sports industry in China will reach $87 billion by 2020. The hosting of the Winter Olympics in Beijing in 2022 will also offer “significant opportunities” for companies in the winter industry, it added.
