SIA pledges to fight back against tariffs

The US administration has proposed a 10-25% tariff on more than $200 billion worth of products from China. A numbers of snow sports products are on the list, including ski gloves, safety helmets, knit hats and head gear, and sports bags.
According to SIA, during the most recent selling season (August 2017-March 2018), these goods generated over $779 million in retail sales.
It added that the organisation, along with manufacturers and retail partners, is doing everything it can to remove these products from the list. For example, Nick Sargent, president of SIA, will testify before the US International Trade Commission on behalf of the group’s members.
It has also urged members to have their say by putting their company’s name to a letter to be delivered to the US Trade Representative and/or by contacting their congressperson.
