BCI grows its membership

Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), the Geneva-based organisation that works to encourage and help finished product brands and retailers source cotton responsibly, increased its membership in the first half of 2018.

There are now 37 civil society organisations, together with more than 350 brands committed to supporting cotton farmers through BCI. This means providing farmers with training and support to improve their use of water and chemicals and to guard against forced labour or child labour.

BCI says around 15% of global cotton production currently qualifies as better cotton.
