Advanced materials company Solvay has worked in partnership with Novo Hamburgo-based design consultancy Top Shoes Brasil to make new knitted-upper athletic footwear.

The construction of the shoes was with a 3D knitting technique that Top Shoes Brasil calls, simply, Knit and the materials used in the upper were polyamide yarns from Solvay’s Amni Colors range. They also have a sole made from a polyurethane material originally developed for flooring applications.

Top Shoes Brasil has said Knit offers footwear manufacturers a 90% saving in labour costs.
