The facility would have a minimum capacity of 300,000 tonnes and will require investment of more than $1 billion. Construction is targeted for 2020, with production commencing in 2023.
Kyle Redinger, vice president of Invista Intermediates in the Asia-Pacific region, has taken on a newly-created role which will see him focus on meeting China’s long-term needs for ADN.
“Given China’s strong demand for ADN and its commitment to advanced, energy-efficient technologies, Invista’s butadiene-based ADN is the best choice for capital investment in the region,” Mr Redinger said. “Invista supplies more of the merchant market than any other ADN producer, so we want to ensure those customers have the best technology available.”
Invista also said it has been meeting with Chinese customers and industry participants to develop a collaborative strategy to satisfy local demand for ADN.
