Lenzing satisfied with results for first half of 2018

Austrian fibre group Lenzing saw its revenue decline by 6.4% during the first half of 2018, a decrease it attributed, in part, to “less favourable currency exchange rates”.

The company’s revenue for the first six months of the year was €1.08 billion, below last year’s figure, although that was the best half-year in Lenzing’s history.

Other reasons it gave for the lower revenue included volatile prices for standard viscose and an increase in the price of raw materials.

“So far, the financial year 2018 proved to be as challenging as expected, and market headwinds were clearly noticeable,” said Stefan Doboczky, CEO of Lenzing. “In this market environment, we are satisfied with the solid results we report.”
