Indorama in new polyester recycling joint-venture

Fibre manufacturer Indorama has launched a new joint-venture with a Montral-based recycling technology developer called Loop. The joint-venture’s aim will be to manufacture and bring to market “sustainable polyester resin”.

It will use Loop’s existing technology to make what the companies have called “100% sustainably produced PET resin and polyester fibre”, with plans to begin commercial production in the first quarter of 2020.

On announcing the development, Indorama chief executive, Aloke Lohia, said: “ This emphasises our belief in recycling and is aimed at investing in new technologies that can steer further our aspiration of being a world-class chemical company making great products for society.”
