Indorama takes a stake in Indian fibre manufacturer

04/04/2019
Polymer, fibre and chemicals manufacturing group Indorama has acquired a stake of nearly 32% in India-based fibre manufacturing facility Indo Rama Synthetics Limited (IRSL).

The facility, located in Nagpur, in India’s Maharashtra state, has a combined capacity of 605,000 tonnes per year. This consists of polyester chips, fibres and filament yarns.

Indorama has said IRSL is a “strong strategic fit” with its fibre strategy for the home and apparel markets. It added that the acquisition will help it as it focuses on establishing a low-cost operation in Asia. It also gives it access to a large domestic market.
