Taiwan’s textile prowess on show at Titas
The 2018 edition of the Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (Titas) is underway at the Taipei Nangang exhibition centre in Taiwan. It runs from October 16-18.

This is the 22nd edition of the annual event, which is co-organised by the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF). A total of 456 exhibitors from 12 countries are exhibiting this year.

Continuing the theme established at last year’s edition, Titas 2018 is focusing on the core topics of functionality, smart textiles and sustainability.

Welcoming visitors to the exhibition, Justin Huang, president of TTF, said: “As a platform to display Taiwan’s innovative and high quality textile products, technologies and applications, Titas 2018 continues its focus on intelligent textiles, sustainability and functional applications to showcase eco-friendly, fashionable as well as high performance and textiles.”

Key domestic textile players in attendance include Formosa Taffeta, Far Eastern New Century, New Wide Group, Eclat, Kingwhale and Grandetex. They are joined by a number of Taiwanese textile research groups.

Foreign companies have travelled to the event from a number of countries, including Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore, Turkey, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and France. India has its own pavilion at the event, led by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), where 10 companies are exhibiting their products.

Beyond the wide range of fibres, fabrics and materials on show, the organisers have set up more than 1,000 one-on-one business meetings between show exhibitors and invited representatives from international brands and retailers.

There will also be a fascinating seminar programme, which will address topics such as the latest developments in innovative textiles, important industry trends and responsible manufacturing.
