BCI names top 15 companies for sourcing ‘better’ cotton

Sports and outdoor brands to featre on the list include adidas in third place, Nike in fifth, Decathlon in eighth, VF Corporation in ninth and Puma in fourteenth. Fashion retailer H&M came top.
BCI has explained that what it means by sourcing better cotton here refers to “the action taken by member companies when they place orders for cotton-containing products”. It does not refer to the cotton present in the finished product. BCI uses a ‘chain of custody’ model called mass balance, tracking, by means of an online sourcing platform, the volumes of better cotton changing hands along the supply chain.
