Rhodia helps Brazilian brand make phone-charging leggings

Polyamide fibres from Rhodia have been used by Brazilian fitness apparel brand Alto Giro to make leggings that can charge smartphones during a workout.

Alto Giro presented the product at a designer event in São Paulo at the end of November.

A pocket on the outside of the thigh holds the wearer’s phone in place for it to be charged up by induction during exercise.

The polyamide on the outside of the pocket has touch-sensitive functionality to allow the user to take calls and carry out other functions without removing the device and without interrupting the process of charging it.
