It launched the programme, Alquimia Jovem (Young Alchemy), ten years ago. It focuses on encouraging students from local schools to become more active in their communities.
Sporting projects, as well as dance and games, are among the activities young people aged between 11 and 16 engage in as part of the programme. Activities take place at a facility that Rhodia runs in Campinas and the young people participate free of charge.
In 2018, more than 80% of the parents or guardians of the children taking part in Alquimia Jovem said they found the programme to be “excellent”.
On announcing that the initiative had reached 1,200 students, Solvay’s corporate communications director for Latin America, Odete Duarte, said: “We are helping these young people gain experience and knowledge that will help them make a difference in their communities.”
