Olympics will be ‘just the start’ for winter sports in China
Organiser of ISPO Beijing, Messe München, which this year took place in the China’s capital city from January 16-19, has said the event was “jam-packed”, with more than 400 exhibitors representing 682 different brands, attracting an estimated 30,000 visitors.

Winter sports have been “hugely popular” with the Beijing audience for several years now, the company said, and this is intensifying (with government encouragement) in view of the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

One of a number of conference events that took place in parallel with the exhibition was the Asia Pacific Snow Conference, at which representatives of the technology, sports and tourism industries discussed advances in China’s ski resorts and ideas for expanding them further.

“China’s professionalism in preparing for the 2022 Winter Olympics is very impressive,” said Messe München chief executive, Klaus Dittrich, after the event. “Sports venues are being designed and built in line with the very latest standards. The Olympics will be just the start of China’s development as a winter sports nation.”
