The new version also offers what the company refers to as “a higher level of realism” in converting two-dimensional information to three dimensions; this comes from added support for optical and surface texture effects, a new live drag tool to allow users of the software to tug on a garment to help assess and control fit. Avatars with additional poses have been added to help with speed and personalisation. This could cut weeks off a development cycle, the technology provider said.
There are also enhancements to the planning tool in the AccuMark, with the addition of multiple fabric property features to capture selvage and shrink-stretch percentages, helping garment manufacturers manage material consumption more accurately.
“We continue to examine key industry trends and listen closely to our customers,” commented Mary McFadden, Gerber’s vice-president for CAD product management. “This is what drove all of the innovations we added in this release.”
