Higg Index advocate joins OIA executive team

She is currently an independent consultant who has led sustainability strategy and collaborative projects for organisations like Nike, Walmart and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC). She previously worked full time for SAC, building the first business case for respected industry tool the Higg Index. As a consultant with OIA for the last three years she has helped increase Higg Index adoption by outdoor brands by more than 80%.
Announcing the appointment, OIA executive director Amy Roberts said: “Amy’s proven sustainability facilitation and strategy experience will ensure we take our important work in this area to the next level. I’ve worked with her closely for a number of years, and she always delivers results with her special combination of big thinking, critical listening and team collaboration.”
For her part, Ms Horton said she had a passion for helping accomplish sustainability goals that companies cannot achieve on their own, pointing to the work OIA does on behalf of the outdoor industry. She added: “Transparency about sustainability performance and progress is rapidly becoming an expectation of doing business today; it’s no longer an option.”
