Coats has its eyes on innovation

Industrial thread manufacturer Coats has officially opened an Innovation Hub at its site in Bursa, Turkey, the third such facility it has completed in the past six months.

In October 2018, it inaugurated a similar facility in North Carolina, US, following this in March with the opening of an Innovation Hub in Shenzhen, China. No more facilities of this type are planned. 

Coats has said the hubs will allow it to collaborate with a range of partners including customers, brands, suppliers, universities and start-ups. Each has been created with a particular focus in mind. The hub in China will have the development of products for apparel and footwear as its core purpose. 

The opening of the hub in Turkey comes as Coats marks the 50th anniversary of its full-scale operations at the site in Bursa. It was active in Turkey as far back as 1952.
