They confirmed the arrangement at a ceremony in Beijing at the end of March, with a senior government representative, Wang Ping, a deputy director at the state sports administration body, in attendance. He said at the event: “China’s GDP exceeded 90 trillion RMB ($14 trillion) in 2018 and per capita income is almost $10,000. National involvement in sports is seen as an important impetus for healthy economic development. China’s successful bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics is generating additional momentum.”
