The Fastskin LZR Pure Intent suit has a triple-fabric construction that is designed to enhance compression and flexibility. HeiQ and Speedo worked together to reduce drag, developing a fabric technology inspired by shark skin. The Swiss company has said it modified the surface of the fabric “at a microscopic level”.
The Fastskin LZR Pure Valor suit is designed to be light and flexible in order to allow the wearer to increase their power and reduce drag through streamlining. This fabric was also co-developed with HeiQ and it aims to give the wearer a greater range of motion and better core stability.
Announcing the new Fastskin range, Rebecca Bennett, materials specialist at Speedo, said: “With almost two decades of improvements in our Fastskin technology, we are excited to partner with HeiQ to give our racers the ultimate advantage with drag reduction technology to improve their speed. We’ve worked very closely with our athletes and taken all their feedback on board to help them get the suit they need to perform at their absolute best.”
For his part, HeiQ CEO Carlo Centonze said the fabrics in these suits are the result of close collaboration between Speedo and HeiQ’s respective research hubs in Australia and Switzerland.
