Teijin achieved revenues of more than $8 billion in 2018. It released its full-year figures on May 9. The group’s revenues increased by 6.4% year on year, but operating income fell by 14.1% to reach almost $550 million.

It said increased raw material prices pushed down profit for its polyester fibres business, “despite brisk sales of functional apparel fibre material”.

“Sales of fabrics for sports and outdoor use were favourable,” Teijin said.
