EU signs agreements with Vietnam

Commissioner for trade for the European Union, Cecilia Malmström, travelled to Hanoi at the end of June to sign trade and investment protection agreements with Vietnam.

In a statement confirming the development, the European Union said these agreements are the most ambitious it has signed with any developing country. “They will promote further economic development and reinforce trade and investment ties between Vietnam and the European Union,” it said.

The agreements will now go before Vietnam’s national assembly and, on the European Parliament for consent.
