Indorama turns to Huntsman to make largest-ever acquisition

Thai fibre manufacturer Indorama has announced that it will acquire Huntsman’s integrated oxides and derivative businesses to expand its capacity for producing key raw materials for plastics production.

Sites that this part of Huntsman’s portfolio runs include plants in the US, India and Australia. The deal will cost Indorama more than $2 billion, making it the group’s largest-ever acquisition and the largest by any Thai company in the last decade.

This move will help the group achieve its stated aim of doubling its revenues by 2023.
