Fashionsustain conference to form part of Intertextile Shanghai
05/09/2019
The next edition of the exhibition will take place at Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Convention Centre, near Hongqiao Airport, from September 25-27. The Fashionsustain element will take place on the middle day, Thursday, September 26.
There will be a keynote speech from Edwin Keh of the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textile and Apparel (HKRITA), followed by panel discussions. The first of these will involve Andreas Streubig of Hugo Boss, Jiehui Kia of Forum for the Future, Micke Magnusson of ReAccess, and Mikkel Hansen of the Fung Group. Their subjects will be the importance and the challenges of implementing textile innovation pilot projects and how to bring new products to the market faster.
A second panel discussion will have Cherry Cheuk Yan Ho from The Mills Fabrica, Celine Huang from HeiQ, Emily Franklin from Fashion for Good, Florian Heubrandner from Lenzing and Jean Hegedus from Invista Lycra. Their focus will be on how best to scale up innovative textile technologies. This will be followed by pitches from three start-ups: TG3D, Reflaunt, and Circular Systems.
The event will be rounded off by a discussion between Tony Lowe from Better Buying and Max Gilgenmann from Kaleidoscope Berlin on the role of sourcing in a changing textile and fashion industry.
Fashionsustain is a component of the Neonyt event that Messe Frankfurt runs in Berlin twice a year, in January and July. The conference ran for the first time at the start of 2018 at Green Showroom and Ethical Fashion Show Berlin, two exhibitions that merged and were renamed as Neonyt in January 2019.
