Chinese denim mill to use aniline-free indigo dyes
06/09/2019
Aniline impurities that sometimes remain locked into the indigo pigment during traditional dyeing processes can be toxic to aquatic life and can affect factory workers. Some of these substances are now starting to feature on the restricted substance lists of some major clothing brands and retailers.
Archroma unveiled its Denisol Pure Indigo 30 aniline-free liquid dye in May 2018.
Managing director of Advance Denim, Amy Wang, said on announcing the development: “Advance denim and Archroma are demonstrating, through action, how a traditional industry can transform itself and become sustainable while remaining profitable.”
