New ASICS facility offers low-oxygen training for all

It opened the doors of the new ASICS Sports Complex in the Koto Ward of Tokyo on October 10 to allow viewings ahead of full public access from November 1. The 5,000 square-metre facility allows for oxygen concentration levels to be set differently in different areas.
Oxygen levels will be adjusted by day of the week and location, with levels varying between normal and the equivalent of 4,000 metres above sea level (higher, for example, than La Paz, where, owing to the conditions, the Bolivian national football team is so difficult to beat).
The complex has training rooms, a yoga studio, a conditioning room, a pool area and a sports laboratory.
Low-oxygen training can help prevent and alleviate lifestyle-related illnesses, ASICS has said, and such training methods are being sought all around the world as health-conscious trends grow.
