Toray personal protective clothing to help combat disease in Africa

11/11/2019
Japanese fibre group Toray has made an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to promote the use and deployment of personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE) in the fight against infectious disease in Africa.

Specifically, it will support a JICA project in the Republic of Guinea in West Africa by supplying its Livmoa 5000 protective clothing to help the authorities there in their work against diseases such as Ebola.

Toray will also provide guidance for medical institutes and personnel in using Livmoa 5000, which safeguards wearers from body fluids and reduces the risks of secondary infections from on-clothing contamination.

It will invite key Guinean government officials and public health authorities to Japan, to help them upskill and acquire knowledge from Japanese experts in collaboration with specialist Japanese institutions.
