New SGS apparel and textile testing lab in Ethiopia

Located on the Hawassa Industrial Park in the south of the country. SGS said its presence in Ethiopia, one of the most important textile and garment manufacturing sites in east Africa, will contribute to, and strengthen, the local apparel industry’s ability to meet the requirements of global standards and international markets.
Vice-president of the organisation’s global softlines business, Spencer Yeung, commented: “Ethiopia is becoming a hub for ready-made garment exports to Europe and the US, clearly demonstrating an increase in demand for consumer product testing in this region. Our new state-of-the-art facility will be the only fully fledged textile testing laboratory in the region.”
