First European visit will see IST present fibres at ISPO

13/01/2020
Japanese materials company, IST Corporation, is set for its first ever visit to Europe to present its new fibres, Imidetex and Karl Karl.

Imidetex is a high-performance fibre for the sports and outdoor market. It is made using polyamide, a synthetic material than can withstand both extremely low and high temperatures. Its properties reportedly include ultra-high tensile strength, low water absorbency ratio and impressive UV resistance. The company claims it will “open up unlimited potential for the outdoor market”.

IST’s patented yarn spinning technology, Karl Karl, is already known in the market; an example of an application being Patagonia’s award-winning Capilene Air. Now the company will be introducing a new material for the Karl Karl yarn collection. Designed for athleisure wear and jackets, it is said to be characterised by its extreme lightness, softness and high elasticity.

The fibres will be presented at ISPO in Munich from January 26-29.
