Anti-shedding fabric wins ISPO gold
A new fleece jacket from Houdini has been recognised for its circular design and anti-shedding fabric. 

The Stockholm-based outdoor brand won the 2020 ISPO Award Gold for the Mono Air Houdi (pictured), developed in partnership with Polartec.

Described as a light, warm and highly breathable fabric, the winning design is said to shed up to 80% fewer microfibres compared to regular high-quality fleece. The jacket is made from recycled plastic waste and, because it is mono material — rather than mixed — it’s fully recyclable.

“With this updated version of the Polartec Power Air fabric, Houdini and Polartec have achieved a mutual goal of a durable, long-lasting and ultimately circular product,” said Steve Layton, president of Polartec. 

The hoodie and its hoodless version, the Mono Air Halfzip, will be available for sale in Autumn 2020.
