French ‘eco’ award for Polartec Power Air

18/03/2019
Textile solutions provider Polartec was among the winners at the 2019 Ecosport awards, a programme set up by the French government to recognise companies that have developed innovations that benefit the environment.

Polartec was recognised for its Power Air fabric. Unveiled in November, this material has been created in response to the issue of microfibre pollution. It is said to reduce microfibre shedding, with Polartec’s testing showing that it sheds five times less than other premium mid-layer weight fabrics.

Sportswear brand adidas and outdoor brand Houdini are the early adopters of this fabric, with a number of other companies expected to launch products featuring Power Air in the coming months.

Accepting the award, Eric Yung, Polartec vice-president, expressed “great pride” that the company had been recognised for its latest innovation. He added that such recognition encourages Polartec to continue on its path.
