Polartec gets new president after Milliken acquisition

Textiles group Milliken & Company has appointed Steve Layton as president of the Polartec fabric brand, which it acquired earlier this month. He replaces Gary Smith, who is stepping down as Polartec CEO.

Mr Layton will oversee the process of integrating Polartec’s portfolio of fabric technologies for outdoor apparel into the Milliken group. He will also be responsible for the ongoing management of the business, including the development of further innovative textile solutions. He has been part of Milliken since 2012.

Jeff Price, president of Milliken’s performance and protective textiles division, highlighted Mr Layton’s “extensive textile market knowledge and strategic business acumen” as qualities that make him suited to leading Polartec.
