Polartec brings Power Fill to Outdoor Retailer
Specialist developer of textiles for the outdoor industry Polartec will unveil its new fill insulation product, Power Fill, at the Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show in Denver, US (January 25-28).

It describes Power Fill as “a premium solution for package insulation design made from a proprietary hollow-fibre construction that is softer and more durable, forming thousands of air pockets that continuously capture and contain body heat.”

Polartec has used a proprietary controlled melt process to bond the hollow fibres, which it says eliminates the needs for scrims or other stabilisers and increases durability and drapability. It claims this gives Power Fill “unmatched warmth and design versatility” and has explained that the polyester fibre’s inherent hydrophobic properties ensure the fill material resists moisture absorption and dries quickly, while maintaining a high warmth-to-weight ratio.

Power Fill is available in weights of 60, 80, 100 and 135 grammes per square-metre.

The first products to market featuring Polartec Power Fill have been developed by outdoor clothing brand Triple Aught Design. It has used the fill insulation in its Bastion Hoodie and M-65 liner.

At the exhibition in Denver, three more Polartec customers, Flylow, Giro and Millet, will introduce products featuring Power Fill. They will be displayed at Polartec’s booth.
