Polartec to sell US textile plant

28/04/2017
Textile firm Polartec will put its textile plant in Lawrence, Massachusetts up for auction next month with a starting bid of $1.5 million, according to local media reports.

Polartec’s current owner, private equity firm Versa Capital Management, announced in June that production at the plant would end at the end of 2016. Production of the company’s technical fleece and softshell fabrics has moved to Tennessee instead.

The move prompted a trade union representing Polartec works to ask outdoor brand to acquire the company. Leading industry figures told sportstextiles at the time that this seemed unlikely and they have been proven right.
