Textile technical coatings specialists Finipur has announced it is researching a coating for textiles that is not only antimicrobial but virus-inhibiting.

At the request of customers, the Belgium-based company said, the first industrial tests have now been performed. Over the coming weeks, Finipur will further develop the treatment.

“Covid-19 has had the entire global community in its grip for several months,” according to the company. Working with partners, Finipur is developing the coating to treat textile fabrics so that they are both antimicrobial and virus-inhibiting.

“There is also a growing awareness,” it said, “that we will have to deal with this virus for months and maybe years.”
