Tonello offers sanitisation for retailers and factories

The machine, called Sanicare, is available in three sizes, and uses ozone in a process typically lasting 20 minutes to kill a range of bacteria and viruses.
Alice Tonello, research and development director for the group, said: “We thought about how the pandemic would affect the consumer’s shopping experience and we invented a new range of sanitisation chambers using ozone.”
Tests showed that the process eliminates between 93% and 100% of bacteria and pathogens.
“It’s not possible to test coronavirus because it’s too dangerous at the moment but the lab says that as it is similar to other viruses tested, in all probability, it will be killed.”
The machine has two settings: garment sanitisation and room sanitisation. The room setting could be used overnight in a store when it is empty, she suggested. “This obviously depends on the size of room, the setting and how long you leave the machine on.”
Factories could sanitise garments or textiles before they send them out, and it could give confidence to shop workers and consumers, she added.
Tonello, based in Vulcano, is famous for its laundry and dyeing technologies. Speaking to Sandeep Agarwal of Denimsandjeans about the change, Ms Tonello added: “This is an opportunity to think about the future and do better than before.
