Arc'teryx taps former adidas design director to first “VP Creative” role

14/05/2020
With the aim of expanding the brand’s focus on design, Arc-teryx has named Katie Becker as its first VP Creative. The role reflects the company’s aim of being known as a design-focused brand.

In the new role, Ms Becker will lead the development of a creative strategy involving consumer touchpoints and product focus areas in support of the brand’s global business initiatives. She will be part of the company’s senior leadership team and report directly to Arc’teryx president Jon Hoerauf.

Ms Becker joins Arc’teryx after more than twelve years with adidas, where she most recently served as senior global design director. Prior to her time at adidas, Ms Becker held design roles at Merrell, Helly Hansen and O’Neill, where her responsibilities included technical design and innovation, market research, sourcing, and product management.

The appointment fits in with the brand’s decision to evolve beyond its core offering of high-performance, technical outdoor apparel. Last year Arc’teryx opened its first lifestyle concept store in British Columbia, Canada, and now runs a travel program.
