WRAP publishes updates to recycling and re-use grant
WRAP, the UK’s non-profit Waste and Resources Action Programme, has relaunched a recently-announced £1.5 million fund to support textile recycling projects. Documents related to the scheme that were issued prior to June 15, 2020, are no longer relevant and applicants should obtain the updated guidance from the organisation’s website.
The grant is intended to support projects that enable recycling and reuse of textile waste, diverting waste from landfills and ensuring it remains a valuable resource. Eligible projects might include new technologies, equipment or interventions.
According to the updated guidance, the grant will now fund 100% capital costs and it will be released in advanced milestones payments. Also, according to WRAP, grant money can be used to fund “any capital costs associated with a business reconfiguration in response to Government guidelines on COVID-19 safety measures, where this forms an integral part of an innovative proposal/project”.
Applicants must be a legal registered entity operating or planning to operate in England. They must also demonstrate that they can secure a regular supply of clothing and linen waste materials that can be recycled and/or re-used, and demonstrate end-market arrangements for the output textile products.
The initial application window is open until July 13, 2020. Subsequent dates — and more details regarding eligibility — can be found on the grant’s webpage.
