Textiles 2030 Roadmap advances – but consumer-facing campaign falters
The Textiles 2030 Roadmap – a clothing recycling programme launched in 2021 by the UK’s WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) - has been extended to Denmark and now has 115 signatories, as announced in its annual report.

The Textiles 2030 Footprint Tool provides data on the full lifecycle impacts of textiles, including carbon, water and waste, helping retailers and brands to estimate Scope 3 emissions associated with textiles goods.

WRAP is working with the Leeds Institute of Textiles and Colour to test garment durability and how it influences opportunities for circular fashion. Over 20 brands and retailers are involved, with first results expected this autumn.

WRAP’s first circular fashion agreement outside the UK, backed by the Danish Department of Environment, has united 60 brands around circular goals. “We had set a 2022/23 target to explore an international licensing opportunity for Love Your Clothes,” said the organisation. “However, due to a lack of funding, the campaign was mothballed in March 2023 and is no longer public facing. Resources remain available to organisations upon request, and sponsors or philanthropists are encouraged to contact us if they are interested in supporting a citizen-facing textiles campaign.”
