Gold sustainability rating for Lenzing

For the third consecutive time, fibre manufacturer Lenzing has achieved gold status in its sustainability rating by EcoVadis.

The assessment covers four Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices: environment; working conditions and human rights; ethics; and sustainable procurement. To determine ratings, EcoVadis assesses companies’ policies and actions as well as their published reporting related to the four areas.

According to Lenzing, EcoVadis highlighted the group’s sustainable procurement practices.

“We look beyond fibres and take responsibility for our children and grandchildren by standing up resolutely against the shortcomings of our time. This attitude is part of our strategic principles and we will continue to work hard to make a sustainable contribution to the environment and society”, said Stefan Doboczky, CEO of the Lenzing Group.

The group’s climate targets include achieving climate-neutral production by 2050. By 2030, the company aims for an interim goal of reducing emissions by 50 percent per ton of product compared to 2017. Lenzing said the Science Based Targets Initiative has scientifically confirmed the climate targets.
